I'm J. R. Kendiro, a grimdark author. I write about morally ambiguous characters and choices that come at a cost. And I do it in living, biopunk worlds made of flesh.
I live with my partner and my son, whose endless curiosity reminds me every day why stories matter. I built languages before I built worlds.
I read, study, and steal from Abercrombie for moral ambiguity. Mark Lawrence for protagonists who make no excuses. Jemisin for worldbuilding that flips the table.
Then there is the organic side of things: Kameron Hurley, VanderMeer, Miéville, and 1980s Cronenberg. But that is the setting, the contract is grimdark.
I'd rather let the work speak, but I'm always happy to hear from readers who've found their way inside the Mother.
The Standards
I've done a lot of things in my life. Some I'm proud of, some I'm not. But they all taught me the same thing: wasting time is a mortal sin.
So here's what I promise you:
- No wasted pages. Every scene earns its place or gets cut.
- Consistent worlds. The rules stay the same from page 1 to THE END.
- Emotional honesty. Dark when it's dark. Light when it's light. No fake depth.
- Complete stories. I finish what I start. Always.
- Honest marketing. The cover matches the book. The blurb tells the truth.
I write to leave something behind, starting with my son. These stories need to be worth keeping.
